Nihon Kagaku Sangyo Co., Ltd. (President: KADOYA Hiroki) is pleased to announce that the Cupric Oxide DC produced at its Saitama Plant (Soka-shi, Saitama Prefecture) completed the validation of the annual renewal of UL 2809-2* by UL Solutions Inc., as an international third-party verification body in August 2026. Through this validation, it has been confirmed by the third-party verification — continuously since the initial validation in September 2023 — that Cupric Oxide DC is manufactured using 100% copper derived from recycled materials.
 

At Nihon Kagaku Sangyo Co., Ltd., we have historically produced Cupric Oxide DC, a plating agent, from recycled materials—such as scrap coppers and used etching solutions containing copper—by utilizing our unique technology, with a view to ensuring the efficient use of metal resources.
 

As the effective use of precious metal resources is increasingly required worldwide, the Company will continue to promote the circular use of limited metal resources and contribute to realizing a circular economy through third-party verification.
 

In addition, Cupric Oxide DC manufactured by SIAM NKS CO., LTD., the Company’s consolidated subsidiary in Thailand, also completed the same validation in November 2024, ensuring the same level of commitment at sites both in Japan and overseas. (Please see the technical report “Cupric Oxide DC.”)
 

This initiative represents a critical step toward realizing a circular society and building a decarbonized society, based on our “Medium-Term Management Plan” targeting 2030. Through further focus on recycling business, we will promote resource circulation not only within our own company but throughout the entire supply chain, contributing to the realization of a sustainable future.
 

*UL 2809-2: A standard developed by UL Solutions. Based on the “UL 2809-2, Environmental Claim Validation Procedure for Recycled Content (ECVP),” this standard evaluates and verifies the recycled content in products. Products that are validated by UL Solutions Inc. can be checked on UL Solution Inc.’s website.
